The Taroko Gorge was quite a site to behold.
The Taroko Gorge was quite a site to behold. We had a private TourGuide, Allen, who was full of great historical knowledge not only of Taiwan, but of the Taroko people. We also took the opportunity to go river rafting and were able to do a shrimp, catching and nighttime barbecue, which was delicious!

Hualien is easily accessible by train from small or major cities, either with the express or local trains. It is also a great starting point to discover the central east cost, with wonders like Taroko gorge and Walami trail.
In the city, the Dongdamen night market is worth spending a few evenings.

Watch out for aggressive drivers. They will not willingly give way to pedestrians, even those who have the green light. You will need to be assertive when crossing the road but still be careful.
The hotel staff are exceptionally helpful and kind. English was somewhat limited, but even still they were amazing and very easy to talk to and I can’t speak any Mandarin or Taiwanese so definitely can’t complain about that!
I had to leave my suitcase with them after checking out, which was so early no one was at the desk. I left it behind the desk with a note and they kept it safe and sound until my arrival - not something I’d recommend in London (!!) but it was more than safe in Hualien at the hotel.
The place is close to the train & bus station, thus perfectly located as starting point for our day trips. The house is a little gem in Hualien. It‘s very authentic Scandinavian interior, very clean, comfortable beds, we felt here very much at home :) The owners are very nice and equipped the room with all the things you need … and more.
Our favourite accomodation in Taiwan so far, thank you for having us!
The room was very cozy and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good rest! The receptionist was super friendly and helpful - she helped us book a few restaurants and a taxi as we didn’t have a Taiwan number. She was very patient and gave us good recommendations for food and places of interest to visit👍😄
There is also a pantry on the first floor with free coffee and tea.
Cheapest hostel i’ve stayed at in Taiwan during my backpacking trip in Taiwan. According to the owner she actually dropped the price because there was a typhoon coming during the time i stayed, so people going around the island could have a cheap place to rest before the typhoon is gone.
Super close to the train station and many places to eat by walking distance around the property.
It was everything we wanted it to be. The room was clean and comfortable and the service was friendly and helpful. The hotel is just steps from the train station. We were only there for one night, to visit Taroko Gorge, so the location was perfect. Gave us a good dinner recommendation nearby, and arranged for a driver to the gorge for the following day.
Everything. Beautiful Japanese style hotel and rooms, the owners were lovely and attentive. The rooms felt so peaceful. The location was in easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. We had a car to drive to city, but the distance is short. L’Occitaine toiletries a plus.
This hotel operated by two elderly couple and they are very nice people, when we checked in, we complained that the room was having bad odour, immediately she changed and upgraded our room to a bigger room, you can have free coffee 24/7 downstairs at the lobby.
The bed was amazing - so comfortable! The best bed we slept in over three weeks travelling in Taiwan. Room was big, light and spacious. Bennet was lovely and friendly. Nice extra touches, like free tea and coffee. We stayed twice and really liked the hostel.
A hotel with 5 star service, from a sumptuous spread of breakfast, tea and supper to thoughtful amenities like bottle sterilizers and clean toilets, this hotel surpasses expectations at an affordable price! Best herbal tea eggs. Keep it up! We will be back.
The hotel is super clean and very nice view. The staffs are very helpful even though they cannot speak English. We communicate through google translate.
There are many nice local restaurants around the hotel and the night market is less than 10 mins walk.
Everything was great, the host is the most kind man I ever met in Taiwan, and generally in my life, he really touched my heart with his kindness, making sure we're all set and everything is good, he even bought bananas for us!
Highly recommend
Very happy with the stay. Great location, close to board walk and Dongdamen night market. Hotel also offers complimentary bikes to use. Breakfast is very good with lots of choices. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great value.
Clean and good size for family, we booked family room.
Receptionist very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was good, and acceptable. They served taiwanese local dishes and hot porridge. Also had standard toast and jam.
The most comfortable and unique hotel I've stayed at in a long time. Everything from the attention to design, amenities, ambiance was sublime. If I could, I would move into this hotel and live there fulltime.
